Atlantic City’s New Revel Resort

There’s new buzz about the Jersey Shore, and luckily it has nothing to do with reality TV. The talk is about Atlantic City’s recently debuted Revel, a new $2.4 billion, 20-acre resort situated on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Revel ups the ante in Atlantic City, betting on a new type of tourist not geared towards gambling. While the resort does sport a casino (designed by the Montreal firm responsible for Cirque de Soleil’s sets), add to that swank lounges, Vegas-style nightclubs, indoor and outdoor pools, live entertainment, trendy boutiques, and a 32,000-square-foot spa complete with hammam and salt rooms.

There’s also a focus on food, with more than a dozen much-anticipated restaurants from top-name chefs. American Cut, helmed by Iron Chef Marc Forgione, is a rock-and-roll-inspired steakhouse. Nearby, Alain Allegretti’s Azure serves up delicate handmade pastas and dishes reminiscent of the Italian and French Riveieras.
Another Iron Chef, Jose Garces, adds to the offerings with Amada, a restaurant focused on elevated tapas classics. There are other casual eateries, such as Garces’ burger and booze joint, Village Whiskey and taco truck, Distrito Cantina. Mussel Bar, a Belgian gastro-pub is also here.
Nightlife is also a draw at Revel, with a burlesque nightclub and Ovation Hall, a venue that hosted Beyonce for her first post-baby show on Memorial Day.
Guests wanting to stay awhile can book one of the 1,800 ocean-view rooms that showcase AC’s sands (standard room rates start at $319 for June).
